Office
Is the picture not what you expected?
Funny true story. There are mattresses in our office. Lots of mattresses. We're not lazy. Quite the opposite, actually. One of our current clients is a mattress manufacturer here in Charleston. They have been manufacturing beautiful, reliable mattresses for nearly a century. We were fascinated by their process and as we learned more, we realized an opportunity to support our local economy by opening a showroom for The Charleston Mattress. It's an example of how a small idea can grow into something worthwhile and beneficial for everyone. Sure, it's a little quirky, definitely a little different, possibly unconventional, but in these times, it may be exactly what's needed.
Building
10 Storehouse Row, located near the banks of the Cooper River on the Navy Yard, is an earth-friendly space. Built in 1939 under FDR's public works program as a distribution center, trains once rolled through the large opening at the front of the complex. Today, the building generates heat and light from the sun's rays, and energy is conserved and created at nearly every turn. Low-flow toilets, motion-detecting faucets and light fixtures, sustainable wood product selection and zero VOC paint have combined to make this LEED Certified building a comfortable and efficient workplace. MD Design shares this building with fellow innovators like Vapor Apparel, Kelli Wenner Designs, Bio Habitats and others. And, we all eat breakfast or lunch (or sometimes both) at Anna Bell's Kitchen, also located in 10 Storehouse. |
